Madeira - Quinta Splendida

The Quinta Splendida is a beautifully restored 19th Century Manor House in the resort of Caniço, just a short distance from the capital Funchal.

The half moon shaped accommodation site is completely surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden with over 1,000 different species of plants and flowers One of the huge bonuses of the Quinta Splendida is the renowned "Luxury Quinta Splendida Spa". The quinta has superb views over the Atlantic Ocean and the near by nature reserve, Deserta Islands.

There are 141 guest rooms and 25 luxury Spa Suites. The majority of the accommodation is made up of Studios with balcony or private terrace or twin rooms. All the twin rooms are located in the Manor House or the Patio Annexe; all are equipped with bath/shower, WC, Air conditioning, Sat TV, radio, hairdryer and safe.

The quinta is in the centre of Caniço, just 7km from Funchal. For those of you who like the Spa/Golf combination, the islands golf courses are both within 15 minutes drive.

Unlike a lot of properties, the quinta is built of low rise architecture, still with its original wine cellar, offering weekly wine tasting. Because of the islands botanical flavour, there is a botanical garden tour arranged weekly.

The quinta boasts a large outdoor freshwater swimming pool, sun terrace, fitness room, sauna, hydro massage bath, table tennis, pool table, art gallery and a 5 hole putting green along with its golf services.

The hotel is abundant with three restaurants and three bars, depending on your choice. Restaurant La Perla offers gourmet with its distinguished gastronomic awards. It has a traditional Madeiran setting with beautiful garden views.

Restaurant Galeria has a contemporary ambiance. A large sun terrace with "al fresco" dining and ocean views. It has a Mediterranean á la carte menu or the half board d'hôte menu. The lounge offers original Thai cuisine with healthy nutrition, organic spice and herb ingredients along with traditional Thai fruit carvings.
